Dickson Valley Camp & Retreat Center
Dickson Valley Camp and Retreat Center is a Christ-centered ministry on 160 acres in Kendall County, Illinois. Since 1989, we've hosted churches, schools, nonprofits, and campers for retreats, camps, and educational programs.
The Lead Cook will serve meals for retreat groups and summer campers. It's hands-on: prep, cooking, kitchen upkeep. Ordering and scheduling stay with the Kitchen Manager.
Part-time, hourly. Hours pick up in summer and on busy retreat weekends.
Who this is ideal for: Someone who wants meaningful part-time work without a rigid weekly commitment — shifts are concentrated on weekends and summer weekdays, and hours shift with the retreat calendar rather than staying fixed. A good fit if you're balancing school, another job, or family life and need a schedule that flexes with you rather than against you.
Fall & Spring (Sept–Nov, Jan–May): Mostly weekend shifts.
December: Camp closed all month.
Summer (June–Aug): Camp runs Monday breakfast –Friday dinner, so shifts are steady alongside the Kitchen Manager and other Lead Cooks.
Mid-Summer Break: Off the week of July 4th.
